Session 606

[SESSION 606]

[MARCH 3, 1972 10:25 PM FRIDAY]

(This unexpected little session was Jane's first upon our returning to Elmira, NY from Marathon, FL. We arrived home March 2, bleary from five days of driving. We were still tired today, but were in the midst of cleaning up both apartments before settling down to work again.)

(The page proofs for) Seth Speaks [were waiting for us upon our return. We were delighted with them, and had already begun to read them. As we sat at Jane's worktable looking them over, I remarked that the notes were well written---this was my particular work. Jane said she felt Seth around, tired as she was. I asked if he could say a few words; she told me to get paper and pencil.)

Now, good evening.

(Good evening, Seth.)

I am not going to keep you--- (Okay. )

You do not need to take all this down, just the good points if you refer.... (I left out a few sentences, then.)

It must have occurred to you that you have writing abilities, and no time, it seemed, in the past to exercise, develop, or use them. So see how nicely and easily you were led along those lines.

(I believe I've thought of that.)

Now. The joint endeavor is of course important---and there will be other joint endeavors of various kinds. They will be highly creative, and quite rewarding financially also.

I was simply dropping in on you briefly upon your return. You noticed of course Ruburt's energy suddenly materializing upon his return.

("Yes." When we reached Troy, Pennsylvania, yesterday afternoon, some twenty-four miles south of Elmira, Jane told me she felt revitalized suddenly.)

Your trip served among other things as necessary counterpoint. Being away from the life to which he was accustomed, he could on his return see it more clearly, and appreciate it for what it is. I will have more to say as I continue at our next session, with personal material already begun. And with that I will close.
